FAQ — OpusLaw

Answers to the questions attorneys ask most.

Everything you need to know about how Carta AI works, what it can do for your practice, and how we protect the confidentiality of your clients.

Law Firms

Implementing AI in your firm.

Is Legal AI suitable for small law firms?

Absolutely. Solo practitioners and small firms often see the largest proportional gains because AI effectively functions as additional staff. Carta AI plans are priced to be accessible without a large IT budget or procurement cycle.

How does Carta AI integrate with existing firm systems?

Carta AI supports integration with common practice management and document management platforms. Most basic integrations can be configured without developer involvement. Enterprise integrations are available for larger firms with custom workflows.

What is the ROI of implementing Legal AI?

Firms typically see efficiency gains of 3x or more within the first quarter. Quantifiable returns come from reduced research hours, faster document turnaround, and the ability to take on more matters without adding headcount. Most firms recover their annual subscription within one to two months.

How do we train attorneys to use Carta AI?

Most attorneys are productive within a single session. The interface is conversational, so there is no specialised training required. We provide onboarding materials, guided workflows, and support from a team that includes practising lawyers who understand how legal work actually gets done.

Can Legal AI help with business development and client communications?

Yes. Carta AI can draft client updates, proposal letters, pitch materials, and marketing content that meets legal industry compliance standards. It understands the professional register expected in attorney communications and adapts tone based on audience.

Multilingual & International

Cross-border legal practice.

Can Carta AI draft documents in multiple languages?

Yes. Carta AI supports document drafting in 50+ languages including English, Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, Italian, Mandarin, Japanese, Korean, Arabic, and dozens more. Crucially, it understands legal terminology specific to each jurisdiction — not just a surface-level translation.

How does Carta AI handle different legal systems?

The model is trained across common law, civil law, and hybrid legal systems. It understands how procedural norms, document conventions, and substantive law differ across jurisdictions, enabling accurate drafting and analysis for matters involving multiple legal frameworks.

Can Carta AI assist with cross-border transactions?

Yes. It can analyse legal requirements across multiple jurisdictions simultaneously, identify regulatory conflicts, and help structure documents that satisfy requirements in each relevant territory. This is particularly useful for M&A, international financing, and cross-border IP matters.

Does Carta AI understand cultural and legal nuances in different countries?

Beyond linguistic accuracy, Carta AI adapts documents to local legal conventions, formality expectations, and cultural context. A contract drafted for a Japanese counterparty will differ structurally and stylistically from one drafted for a counterparty in Brazil — and the AI reflects that.

Security & Privacy

Confidentiality, by design.

Is my legal data secure with Carta AI?

Security is foundational to the product. All data is encrypted in transit and at rest using enterprise-grade encryption. Your data is never used to train our AI models, and your confidential information stays fully isolated. Our infrastructure is built on secure, audited cloud platforms with strict access controls.

Does Carta AI maintain attorney-client privilege?

Yes. We do not use client data or communications to train our models. Your matter-specific information remains within your account environment. The platform is architected so that privilege cannot be inadvertently waived through use of the AI.

What security certifications does OpusLaw hold?

OpusLaw uses enterprise-grade encryption for all data in transit and at rest, and is built on secure cloud infrastructure with strict access controls. Your data is never used to train AI models, and attorney-client privilege protection is built into our architecture. We are committed to pursuing industry security certifications as we grow.

Can I control what data is shared with the AI?

Yes. You decide what context to provide in each session. There is no background data harvesting or persistent profiling across sessions. You can also configure organisational privacy settings to restrict certain document categories from being submitted to the AI.

Where is my data stored and processed?

Data is processed in enterprise-grade data centres with physical and logical access controls. Data residency options are available for firms with specific jurisdictional requirements. We do not transfer data across borders without explicit consent and appropriate legal basis.
